In this article, we will draw practical examples of how to weigh two criteria together with how the weight of the evaluations interferes in the final grade.
❗This calculation refers to the old Performance Evaluation screen.
⚠️The final average of the performance evaluation is calculated based on: The sum of all the criteria (multiplied by the weight of the importance of each profile in the performance evaluation by its configured weight) divided by the total sum of the weights of all the weights and the criteria.
In practice, it works in the following way:
➡️ Example 01 - Only with Manager's endorsement
A performance evaluation:
Only the manager will endorse (100%);
Type of response scale from 1 to 6;
Manager criteria:
Responsibility: weight 1;
Proactivity: weight 1.
Manager endorsement:
Note 6 for the responsibility criterion;
Note 5 for the proactivity criterion.
🧮 Calculating the final grade by criterion
Summary of notes two criteria:
- Responsibility criteria, note 6 x (weight of manager) 100% = 6
- Proactivitycriterion, score 5 x (weight of manager) 100% = 5
-6 X 1 = 6
(final grade of the calculation of responsibility)
- 5 X 1 = 5
(final grade of proactive calculation) X (weight of criterion)
Summary of final grades: 6+5 = 11
(6 final grade of responsibility and weight + 5 final grade of proativity and weight)
Summary two pesos 1 responsibility + 1 proactiveness (1+1)= 2
Calculated final grade: 11/2 = 5.5 final grade performance appraisal
Sum of final grades / Sum of criterion weights
➡️Example 02 - Manager and Participant Assessment
A performance evaluation:
Manager and participant will evaluate each other;
The scale goes from 1 to 6;
Manager has a weight of 80%;
Participant has a weight of 20%;
Criteria, manager and participant:
Responsibility: weight 1
Proactivity: weight 3
Manager evaluations:
Grade 5 for the responsibility criterion;
Grade 4 for the proactivity criterion.
Participant evaluation:
Grade 6 for the responsibility criterion;
Grade 6 for the proactivity criterion.
🧮 Calculating the final grade by criterion
Sum of the criteria grades:
- Manager evaluations:
Responsibility criterion, grade 5 x (manager's weight) 80% = 4
Proactivity criterion, grade 4 x (manager's weight) 80% = 3.2
- Participant evaluation:
Responsibility criterion 6 x (manager's weight) 20% = 1.2
Proactivity criterion 6 x (manager's weight) 20% = 1.2
- Responsibility criterion: 4 + 1.2 = 5.2
(manager's grade after weight applied) + (participant's grade after weight applied)
- Proactivity criterion: 3.2 + 1.2 = 4.4
(manager's grade after weight applied) + (participant's grade after weight applied)
Calculating the final grade of the criterion with the weight of the applied criterion:
- 5.2 X 1 = 5.2
(final grade for the responsibility calculation) X (criterion weight)
- 4.4 X 3 = 13.2
(final grade for the proactivity calculation) X (criterion weight)
- Sum of final grades: 5.2+4.4 = 18.4
(5.2 final grade for responsibility times the weight + 4.4 final grade for proactivity times the weight)
- Sum of weights: 1 for responsibility + 3 for proactivity (1+3= 4)
Final grade calculated: 18.4/4= 4.6 final grade for the performance evaluation
