Performance Evaluation is a tool used by companies to analyze employee behavior and deliveries. Its main objectives are:

  • Promote professional development.

  • Classify employees based on performance.

In this article, we will provide practical examples of how performance evaluation calculations work.
❗This calculation refers to the old Performance Evaluation screen.

➡️ Evaluation Configuration:

A 360º Evaluation, configured with weights for Self-Evaluation, Manager Evaluation and Other evaluators.

  • 30% weight for self-evaluation score;

  • 50% weight for manager evaluation score;

  • 20% weight for other evaluators score.

In this evaluation, we will have 4 configured criteria:

  • Responsibility with weight 1;

  • Empathy with weight 1;

  • Teamwork with weight 1;

  • Problem solving with weight 6.

➡️ How does the calculation of the final average by criterion work?

We have as an example the employee Alice, who evaluated herself with a score of 5.67, the manager evaluated her with 4.78 and other evaluators gave a score of 4.28.

In order to arrive at Alice's final score for each criterion, we will do the following calculations:

Calculation memory: (Grade received x Assessment weight x Criterion weight) / Criterion weight

  • Responsibility Criterion

    (5*0.3*1) + (4*0.5*1) + (5.5*0.2*1) / 1 = 4.6

  • Empathy Criterion

    (6*0.3*1) + (5*0.5*1) + (4*0.2*1) / 1 = 5.1

  • Teamwork Criterion

    (4*0.3*1) + (4*0.5*1) + (5*0.2*1) / 1 = 4.2

  • Problem solving Criterion

    (6*0.3*6) + (5*0.5*6) + (4*0.2*6) = 30.6 / 6 =5.1

➡️How to find the average by type of evaluator and final score?

To calculate the final average by type of evaluator, we use the following formula:

Sum of all criteria / Number of evaluation weights

We have 4 criteria in the evaluation, 3 criteria with weight 1 and 1 criterion with weight 6, totaling the weights at 9.

In this example in the self-evaluation: (5+6+4+6) / 9 = 5.67

For the average of the final score, we will use the formula:

(Final score of each criterion x weight of the criterion) / Number of weights in the evaluation

In this example of this evaluation: (4.6*1) + (5.1*1) + (4.2*1) + (5.1*6) / 9 = 4.94
